Birthday

I mentioned in my last blog that on the 18th birthday there was a big snow/ice storm.  This year for my 24th birthday there was two small storms around it.  It's nice to see snow.  If it's going to be cold- there might as well be snow to go with it!
Good thing Karl got me Muck boots to trudge around in the snow, ice & mud! :)
Karl & I got these flowers from a very special couple.  They came as a surprise to work last Monday and 10 days later they still look this awesome!  Love them.  It's nice to have a bit of spring in the house :)
I love playing volleyball, competitively.  We're currently maintaining our ranking in the top 3 and have 2 weeks to go.  It's very fun & great exercise!

Love my team. So fun, and makes Monday's a day to look forward to :)

Vegas

Need to catch up on my blog-- here's a few!
Kipper- he was so sad when Karl was gone to MS.  He would hang out in his doghouse when I left for work.
Ah- THE shower cap.  I used to make fun of my sister (the cosmetologist) for wearing a shower cap in the hogshed.  I thought she was being too picky aka- "pretty girl".  Well, after doing chores for the entire week, morning & night, this shower cap became my best friend.  It's amazing how it keeps the stink out of my long thick hair & makes it a whole lot easier to wash before trying to go to work in a corporate office.  (p.s. i did spray perfume in my hair everyday before work, just incase) :)
Making freezer meals & cookies w/ family.
I may or may not have burnt one pan of cookies... but that's because Rach's oven is weird.  You have to push like 15 buttons to turn it on and heat up.  ...much unlike her spaceship minivan that I didn't know how to start when I got in it!!
I went to Vegas for the ARA show.  This was the view outside my room.  Couldn't have asked for a better one.  Any guesses which hotel we were in?!  The Paris, hence the eiffel tower.
Too cold to go swimming-- looked fun though!
So we were walking along the street- heading to Margaritaville to eat supper when my coworker turns around to try to tell me something.  Before she can say anything this monster pops out from behind this wall thing and scares the crap out of me.  I screamed as loud as I possibly could and ran the other way.  Every by-passer thought it was the funniest thing in the world.  I on the other hand literally had my heart pounding.  On the way back I stopped and asked to take a picture with him (for tips of course) but he was even creepier up close.  His body is literally like women's hair extensions all glued together.  It was disgusting.
Oh Chubahckah... (don't know how to spell it)

At Senor Frogs for supper
We left the restaurant and was walking through the hotel to get back to the street when I spotted these chairs.... I couldn't resist taking a picture :)
The final night a group of us went to a Brazilian restaurant.  It was good.  You don't order, you just get served.  We started w/ a huge salad bar (didn't know what half the items were) and then when ready for meat you flip your card beside your glass to green (from red) and these servers literally attack you w/ 8 types of beef, 2 pork, 2 chicken, and 2 lamb.  I always asked for well done :)  As any normal Iowa girl would do I looked around the table for some ketchup.  Who eats steak without ketchup?!  So, I asked the waiter for some, he laughed, while all the other servers began to laugh at me and he responds "just for you, we have ketchup".  I thought that was slightly weird, but whatever- I just wanted something to dip steak in!  Well, a few of my world traveling co-workers informed me that it was a huge insult to ask for ketchup.  These chefs apparently think they are the best chefs in the world & that their "masterpieces" don't need dipping sauce.  Whoops!!! Well, lesson learned. :)  (and i'll pry still ask for it the next time too :) )
We did work while in Vegas.  It was an ordering taking show, so 5 of us girls sat in the back room and did quotes/orders for the salesman.  It was a great show and they met their goals.
Hanging out before the show begins.
We had probably 10-15 small rental machines in our booth (one of the biggest booths there) and had this nice hanging sign above our booth.
View from the top of our double-decker.
This show had anything from rental equipment to popcorn machines to tools to bouncy houses.  Anything you can rent, it was here.

I've had a very physically & emotionally exhausting week (s).  Thank you to all who were praying for my family on both the Vander Schel & Boender side.... the saying goes, "when it rains it pours".... quite frankly, I think I got dumped on.  Trying to keep positive thoughts & prayers--- there will be a better day... it's just not quite in sight yet!  There's another saying that is "you find out who your friends are".  Through the past few weeks & days, I have definately seen who truly cares and I'm very thankful for all those people- family & friends.  THANK YOU!!
