Weeks Gone By

Time seems to keep on flying by which once again means a post with lots of random pictures :)  here we go:
Sometimes I like to look through Karl's phone for pictures that he has taken.  Some are interesting, some funny, and some have a common theme.  The pic above is common theme I find when going through them... sunrise & sunsets.  This particular one looks like it was taken at the top of the bulk bins at the hogshed...there's definately more where this one came from :)  Karl likes to climb things and look out, and loves "pretty" skies.
Earlier this summer we went to the Iowa Speedway in Newton and watched a race -- it's super fun to go and watch and I'm slowly getting more interested in Nascar (aka forced to watch so might as well enjoy it).
Matt did the Hy-Vee triathlon this year.  He did great-- swim, bike, run.  He trained for a long time and was very dedicated.  It was super fun to watch and can definatly say I have no ambition to ever do this but very proud of him for accomplishing a goal!
Kurt & Em planned a end of summer/before harvest craziness begins family outting.  We went riding (although i'm pretty sure we spent more time stuck than riding) in the crick/trees and then had a bonfire.  I thought since it hadn't rained it what seemed like forever it would be super dusty...well, boys will be boys.  They found the creek and had some fun in the water.  ...thanks Kurt, for zooming past me and completely soaking me in muddy water :)
Typical sight.... thank goodness for Kurt's winch to pull all of us out.

CHIGGER BITES!!!!! My sister's family and I went camping with a bunch of friends.  I got eaten alive, literally.  These (thankfully) only itched for a few days, but took about 2 weeks for the red spots to disappear.

Beginning of fall means youth group has begun again.  We will have about 25 kids on average.  It's amazing how much they can mature over just a summer.  I'm already impressed with this group and will really enjoy our last year being leaders.
Pink Pounders.  A friend put together a team for the Sully Women's Volleyball league.  We play every Monday night and are a force to be reckoned with :)  I may be patting our own backs but for a random group of people who've never played together, we're pretty good!
Dream come true- no really, it is!  I've never been on the same volleyball team as my sisters and it's super fun to play together!! Our parents had busy falls for about 10+ years...as Rachel went from grade school to high school to college, Leah & I followed right along.  My parents remember going to jr. high games for Leah @ 4, my freshman games @ 5:30 and Rachel's varsity games @ 7:30 all in the same night.  I don't think my mom ever missed a single game for any of us and my dad only skipped all day Saturday tournaments during harvest.  If they were close enough he'd come for a few games and then go back to the combine.  Coming to watch us now is much easier-- all on one team! :)
Mark driving combine down busy Hwy 163.
Semi's lined up ready for grain carts to fill them.
Oh how I love harvest.  Between cargill being open odd hours, going after work and between other activities sometimes it just doesn't work out as nice as I'd like it to to ride along.  That's where drastic measures come into play-- I got up on a Saturday to be at the shop at 6 w/ Karl so that I could ensure I could ride for a while... brought hot breakfast with me which always makes the boys happy!
 Checking the beans.
This past week I got to travel to Ohio for work.  We went to visit a customer who is looking into & demo-ing some of our smaller brush chippers to add to their fleet of equipment that does utility line clearing all over the U.S.  I also got to visit and meet with their corporate office that I have the most interaction with as well as visit one of our Vermeer dealerships in Ohio.

Sometimes it feels like time just flies by and I'm not sure what I'd do without my planner & sticky note to-do list.  Overall, we are very thankful for a fun end to summer, great start to fall, and blessed harvest.  Hope you all enjoy this time of year as much as we have/are! :)
